Bed-Altering Sheets

Millaux bedding Photo: The vendor

This roundup of things we liked this week originally appeared in the October 10, 2024 edition of the Secret Strategist newsletter, a weekly email where we share the stuff our staff — plus a rotating cast of writers, design-world people, and various others with very good taste — would otherwise keep to themselves. If you want to get our picks straight to your inbox each week, sign up here.

Surprise, surprise, we really like these Keen Seattle mary janes (in red, tan, gray, and especially green). —Katy Schneider and Simone Kitchens

This Week’s List

* Publicist Kaitlin Philips emailed the following to our writer Lauren Ro last week: “Laura Tanzer (Balenciaga) just launched a new ‘bed clothes’ brand called Millaux (pronounced me-low) with her girlfriend, a former professional tennis player named Jessica Simpson (not the actress). They are a striking lesbian couple who live in Zurich. Both are over six feet tall and use ‘the lightest shade of concealer available.’ Millaux is intent on crafting bedclothes — their word! — as one does in Haute Couture.” Okay! Honestly, we think everything from this brand is wildly expensive but extremely pretty. See: the silky blue-and-green duvet covers, the cotton-sateen pillowcases, the triangle-edged oxford pillowcases! Those would change the entire dynamic of a bed!

* Then in case you want to buy something expensive and beautiful but this time for the couch — this Tigra Tigra throw!

* Simone got a Aldo Jacober cane chair this weekend at an estate sale and is now searching for more. A pair for $125. A set of six. And four in (maybe) walnut. Also: red!

* A very handsome unisex bag from Silphium that’s big enough for a laptop plus gym clothes.

* This JW Anderson padded trench is not technically for sale yet, but his Uniqlo stuff sells out discouragingly fast so we’re leaving this tab open till “mid-October.” We like the blue. Comes in brown, too.

* Chairs from the Wing.

* So is La Bonne Brosse the new Mason Pearson? It couldn’t be more appealing looking, and people really swear by it. (Strategist writer Liza Corsillo said it made her hair “look and feel softer and healthier and, over time, shiner and less prone to flyaways. It has also allowed me to go longer between washes”!)

The Strategist is designed to surface useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape.
