This roundup of things we liked this week originally appeared in the October 24, 2024 edition of the Secret Strategist newsletter, a weekly email where we share the stuff our staff — plus a rotating cast of writers, design-world people, and various others with very good taste — would otherwise keep to themselves. If you want to get our picks straight to your inbox each week, sign up here.
We’d like to direct your attention to picture nine in Kris Jenner’s birthday tribute slideshow to Kim. Is she wearing a version of the Montbell sandals we’ve written about?? It certainly appears so! —Katy Schneider and Simone Kitchens
This Week’s List
* Italian brand Gregue just launched handmade bags. Very nice square-ish shape, sack-y, but not too sack-y. Like the suede ones best. (If you’ve been to this Italian website before, it’s because we’ve sent you there for Tomo’s “quarantotto verde” travel bags, which we also are still very into.)
* Janicza Bravo looks great here in Simone Rocha, obviously, but: Who makes the basket? It’s a basket basket worn as a bag, she told us, and she got it at Midland or +Coop a few years ago. “Isn’t it divine? I worry it will break and I will never be able to replace it.”
* Heath is starting resale!
* Are these green suede “barefoot sneakers” not kind of Dries feeling?
* This hooded scarf appeals.
* Sarah Nsikak made a fabric wall covering for designers Hendricks and Churchill, and wow it’s beautiful! “The fabric is deadstock and vintage, all from La Réunion pieces and collected vintage textiles,” she told us. “There’s a lot of deadstock from four years ago that I finally got to use, and I collected some dupioni silk remnants from factories for some of the symbols!”
* Pretty sure this is the same black-striped vase we noticed in Michael Bargo’s home. Unfortunately, just a gorgeous $1,200 vase.
