This roundup of things we liked this week originally appeared in the September 5, 2024 edition of the Secret Strategist newsletter, a weekly email where we share the stuff our staff — plus a rotating cast of writers, design-world people, and various others with very good taste — would otherwise keep to themselves. Badly want one of these colorful MATCH by Muller Van Severen kitchen cabinets, which we first noticed in Frederik Bille Brahe’s house. Will also need to buy a house to put them in. —Katy Schneider and Simone Kitchens
This Week’s List
* These new Salter House cardigans are nice.
* And a good fall trouser.
* Our senior editor Winnie Yang has been on a bit of a button-up/-down hunt of late and just sent in a little report on some she bought from Marlow Goods. “Kate Huling, the wife of Andrew Tarlow, who is the guy behind Diner and Marlow & Sons, etc., is known for her line of leather bags, but she also makes some beautiful shirts and pants and dresses, actually. Anyway, she’s having a good sale on a few things right now, and I got the Pullman shirt in red (a perfect tomato red) and the Ciabatta shirt in waffle-green jacquard. Well cut, the fabrics are exquisite.”
* Bemz, which we knew made nice slipcovers for Ikea couches, now offers a very appealing ruffly option for the Söderhamn sofa.
* We like these vintage Le Coq Sportif sneakers, which sell for $30–$50.
* This new furniture shop in Germantown, Zebra Room, looks great! An abundance of handsome leather chairs.
* Nepenthes Los Angeles opened over the weekend, and Misha & Puff is opening on Atlantic Avenue this fall.
