For a winter jacket that’ll look good, last forever, and actually keep the cold out, look no further than the North Face Nuptse. It’s a ’90s classic that has basically never gone out of style — just ask New York deputy editor Alexis Swerdloff, who has been wearing the same Nuptse on and off since her mom purchased it for her when she was 13 years old. Twenty-eight years later, it looks the same as it did when they picked it out together at Paragon.
The design still hasn’t changed much. The water-repellent nylon jacket is packed with puffy goose down (experts told Katherine Gillespie that down lasts much longer and is also slightly warmer than synthetic fill), and it features a hood that can be tucked away when not in use for a cleaner look. The sleeves have cuffs, and there are two big zip pockets for shoving your hands into on chilly days.
