“We were set up on a blind date by our moms, if you can believe it,” says Gina Cooper, 30, a brand strategist. Six years after that first date, Joe, 38, proposed over dinner at Café Boulud, where he’d worked distributing seafood. They found the perfect spot in the Hudson Valley at Liberty View Farm, which they took over for the wedding weekend, then piled farmers’ tables with Long Island duck breast, pumpkin ravioli, and sirloin tips. Following pie and dancing, the couple retired to the farmer’s yurt. “He has some random vintage woodsy artifacts in there like hunting rifles and flannel sheets,” Joe remembers. “There was a see-through roof so we could see all the stars right above us.”

“There were turkeys and goats running around,” Joe says. “It was very different for a lot of city folks.”
