Katherine Milgram & David Ball
Jackson Square Park and Haven’s Kitchen
November 2, 2013
When Katherine Milgram, 33, and David Ball, 36, both lawyers, began planning their wedding in May 2013, deciding on the neighborhood was a no-brainer. “We made our life together in the West Village, so it would have felt artificial to have a celebration somewhere else,” says Katherine. “We wanted something that was intimate and uniquely ours. All signs pointed to a charming local park.” The couple got a permit from Horatio Street’s Jackson Square Park and were married on a fortuitously warm November afternoon. A friend, a priest, and a judge officiated while neighbors and passersby looked on. “We ended up on a lot of tourists’ Instagram accounts,” recalls David. The two chose nearby Haven’s Kitchen for their boozy brunch reception, which featured DIY Bloody Marys, brioche French toast, and black-and-white cookies from Empire Cake. “We’re a couple of conservative laywers, so it felt bold to get married in a park,” says Katherine. “But it was an amazing day.”
