L.A. Designers Bring Touch of Whimsy to New York Hipsters

This year’s weekly “Warm Up†dance party at P.S. 1 gets an aesthetic boost from Ball–Nogues’ whimsical, kaleidoscopic installation. Ball-Nogues, an L.A.–based design firm and the winner of this year’s prestigious MoMA/P.S.1 Young Architects Program, fashioned iridescent canopies from digitally fabricated materials (seen above), and added hammocklike seating below — ideal for dance-floor breathers and hipster canoodling. “Warm Up†kicks off tomorrow afternoon with performances by DFA, Invisible Conga People, Tim & Tim, the Juan Maclean, Shit Robot, and BLARVUSTER. —Rachel Wolff
