Trey Parker and Matt Stone Have a New Kenny (And Spenny)
Parker and Stone’s New Show: South Park’s Trey Parker and Matt Stone will produce an American version of the Canadian comedy Kenny vs. Spenny, featuring Kenny Hotz and Spencer Rice as friends who hold outlandish competitions with each other, such as which one can go without sleep the longest, or which one can eat more meat in a week. We love Parker and Stone, but how is this not basically Jackass? [HR]
McCartney, Starr to Play Hometown: The two surviving Beatles will play their hometown of Liverpool six months apart. Ringo Starr will appear in the concert “Liverpool the Musical†in January, while Paul McCartney will headline the “Liverpool Sound Concert†in June. Starr has vowed to give up his solo career if McCartney sells more tickets. [NYT]
Blige Drops Single: Mary J. Blige unveils “Just Fine,†the first single off of her forthcoming album Growing Pains, hitting shelves on November 27. Little is known about the album other than industry speculation that the singing will probably be pretty good. [Billboard]
Shadyac Gets Sensitive: Tom Shadyac will produce and possibly direct Dr. Sensitive for Universal. Fantastic: A House ripoff from the man behind Patch Adams. [Variety]
Goyer to Helm Baltimore: David Goyer will direct an adaptation of the graphic novel Baltimore, Or The Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Vampire, by Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden, which was recently acquired by New Regency. Goyer, who previously directed Blade: Trinity and The Invisible, promises to try very hard not to screw this one up as well. [Variety]
Itzen Shipwrecked: 24’s crooked Prez and Emmy nominee Gregory Itzin will take the lead in Donald Margulies’ new play Shipwrecked! An Entertainment: The Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont (As Told By Himself), the tale of a dubious “explorer†in Victorian-era England who wrote possibly fraudulent accounts of his travels. Shipwrecked! will debut at the South Coast Rep in California, but here’s hoping it ends up here down the line, ‘cause this kinda sounds fun. [Playbill]
