Artist Xiaoze Xie Won’t Be Getting Much Money Back From His College Bookstore
Chinese artist Xiaoze Xie’s photographs lie somewhere between a frustrated poli-sci major’s pre-midterm dreams and Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451. Here, The Portable Karl Marx hovers above what looks like a bonfire. Xie’s dramatic photographs of almost-burning tomes (American, European, and Chinese) are up at Chelsea’s Charles Cowles Gallery through the end of the month. —Rachel Wolff
