Artist Andrea Aversa’s Tiny Dancer
Andrea Aversa’s oily image of a priest dancing in the middle of Red Square, in Moscow, is not a real live scene reduced to dollhouse proportions by impressive photographic trickery: It’s better than that. Aversa drew the cobbled square and painted the dreamy cathedral in the background, and the priest is a tiny plastic figure holding a tiny plastic briefcase. Other chimerical works, including one in which a real calf’s brain appears as a load on the back of a country truck, are on view at Sloan Fine Art through June 7. —Emma Pearse
