Artist Margrit Lewcuk Makes Art for Squares
The producers of Weeds commission a different band each week to sing that folk ditty “Little Boxes,†riffing on the universal ticky-tacky of suburbia — Randy Newman was gravely and goofy; Angelina Moysov was the Russian temptress; the Shins were just sort of sweet and quiet. Margrit Lewcuk’s Fire Fly could lend a visual component for a guest spot by Lisa Loeb, perhaps: quirky but essentially fit for kindergarten playtime. Lewcuk’s happy painting is among a group show at Sideshow in Williamsburg through Wednesday. —Emma Pearse
