Rick Ross’s Coke-Rap Career Imperiled by Charges of Law Enforcement

“Everyday I’m hustlin’,†declares popular coke rapper Rick Ross in his biggest-ever hit (if we remember correctly, this lyric was repeated several times for emphasis). As it turns out, though, this was not always the case! For the past few days, rap blogs have been up in arms over the recent discovery of an old photo which appears to show Ross (born William Leonard Roberts) wearing the uniform of a correctional officer, an occupation which would seemingly be a conflict of interest for a guy who’s long maintained in songs and interviews that he used to deal coke. Hilariously, Ross has actually denied the evidence using R. Kelly’s Little Man defense: “Online hackers [put] my face when I was a teenager in high school on other peoples’ body,†he said in a statement last week. “If this shit was real don’t you think they would have more specifics, like dates and everything?â€

And now they do! Last night, the Smoking Gun posted a Miami Department of Corrections personnel record proving that in 1995, 1996, and 1997, Ross (or, at the very least, someone with his exact name, likeness, and Social Security number) drew a salary as a prison guard. Can Ross’s hip-hop career possibly withstand such outrageous dishonesty? The fact that he’s a terrible rapper hasn’t seemed to hurt him, so anything’s possible, we guess!
