Galloping Into Theaters: Nicolas Cage will once again work with Gone in Sixty Seconds director Dominic Sena in Relativity Media’s Season of the Witch. Story follows a fourteenth-century knight who must escort on horseback a girl suspected of being “the witch behind the Black Plague†to a distant monastery. The action-loving Sena was presumably hesitant until Cage convinced him that he “could put in some bitchin’ horse chases.†[HR]
The Hornet Hustle: Columbia announced that Kung Fu Hustle’s Stephen Chow will direct Seth Rogen in The Green Hornet, an announcement so awesome it could only be topped this other tidbit: Chow will put on his Bruce Lee pants and play Kato. Says Rogen: “Stephen was always my and Evan [Goldberg]’s first choice for director and to play Kato. We just hope that he never finds out we’re not the Wachowski Brothers.†This is just … too awesome to make fun of. [ComingSoon]
Mass Effect Movie: Nerd-producer Avi Arad has optioned Mass Effect, the award-winning sci-fi action game from Bioware and Electronic Arts. The game already has a fairly sprawling space-opera story about humans fighting aliens, etc., and players get to choose the main character’s backstory, a customization that might be tricky to translate onscreen. Still, with Gore Verbinski’s Bioshock movie in development at Universal, the race is on to see who’ll make the Internet angrier with their sucky adaptation. [Variety]
Stiller’s Station: Fox TV is developing a “quirky office comedy†called The Station with Kevin Napier and Ben Stiller’s Red Hour Films shingle. Stiller will direct the pilot, which takes place in a covert CIA office in South America and may or may not star Robert Downey Jr. as a dude playin’ a dude disguised as another dude. [Variety]
Waiting for Bilson: Rachel Bilson will star in the indie romantic comedy Waiting for Forever, directed by TV’s James Keach. The story follows a jobless dude who decides to spend the rest of his life with his true love, a 25-year-old TV actress in Hollywood. Will this be Rachel Bilson’s last movie role before a lifetime of waiting for an O.C. reunion special? Yes. [Variety]
