The esteemed membership of the Razzie voting committee received their 2008 nominating ballots in the mail yesterday afternoon — and controversy abounds! While the official list of nominees for the year’s worst movies and acting won’t be released until January 21, the names on the ballot from which serious-minded voters are expected to choose are laughable at best.
Never mind egregious omissions like Seven Pounds, the winner of Vulture’s Critics’ Poll for 2008’s crappiest film, and The Spirit, which last week spawned a grassroots For Your Consideration campaign — do High School Musical 3’s Zac Efron and Valkyrie’s Tom Cruise really deserve to be among the candidates for Worst Actor? Please! Also, it pains us to see Vulture buddy Uwe Boll being pushed for Worst Director and Worst Career Achievement in a year in which he made Postal (also on the ballot for Worst Film), widely hailed as his best-ever movie. For shame, Razzies. See the full list of names on the nominating ballot below.
