Despite expectations of a $40 million opening and, ultimately, a resolution to our global financial crisis, Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience sputtered to a disappointing estimated $12.7 million over the weekend, finishing in second place, seemingly putting the breaks on the Brothers’ plan for world domination and dashing all hopes for a return to prosperity in our lifetime. Winning the weekend, again, was Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail ($16 million), and Slumdog Millionaire placed third ($12.2 million), benefiting from either its eight Oscar wins or, more likely, its inclusion in Hugh Jackman’s opening number last Sunday.
