Kristen Stewart Thinks Twilight’s Themes Are Far Kinkier Than Just Plain Ol’ Abstinence

“The weirdest fucking themes run through this story — like dominance and masochism. I mean, you always have to realize that the story needs to make sense to the 11-year-olds who read the book and aren’t necessarily going to be viewing a scene as foreplay. But then there is the other segment of the audience — a large percentage — who does see the scene as foreplay. And it’s pretty deep, heady foreplay. So it’s fun to play it both ways. I mean, I don’t know what it feels like to make out with my vampire boyfriend, because it isn’t something that anybody has ever felt. But it’s funny to think that a lot of the audience is 10 years old and will maybe one day grow up to realize there are a lot of involved thoughts in Twilight that they didn’t see before.†—Kristen Stewart on Twilight [Interview]

“I think I have gone a bit crazy. I am deeply spoiled. In the bedroom of my trailer on a film, I insist they wash the duvet. It has to be a new duvet cover and pillowcases and they have to be washed at least seven times in non-bio powder. What kind of monster have I become? I was poor and now I’m rich, so that’s nice. I pay people to laugh at my jokes. And it’s an ego trip. There’s no point in beating around the bush. On publicity days, there has to be a lot of champagne knocking around. I can’t do photoshoots without a glass of champagne in my hand.†—Hugh Grant on being a monster [Contact Music]

“As always, for the last 30 years, have been very good about organizing, turning out their people, being relentless, being angry. And they’ve gotten away a majority of the time. So hats off to them. Where are we? While those town hall meetings were going on in August, I thought, ‘What liberals do I know who would ever organize or do something in August?’†—Michael Moore on lazy liberals [AV Club]

“I’m not fond of accents or wigs. The kiss thing is not a rule. I just don’t like films where people hate each other, they kiss and the rest is history. I’m sitting there screaming, ‘Now, hold on! No, no, no!’ People get drunk and they kiss, but it doesn’t mean anything.†—Ricky Gervais on the meaningless drunken snog [Showbiz Spy]

“It was important for me to get beyond my own cynicism and say, screw it — so what if somebody’s going to look at it and say, ‘Oh it’s another celebrity, another charity, how do I take that seriously?’ But for me, at the end of the day, what’s important to you? I can say that my own cynicism is there and it maybe comes through in a lot of the work I do. But as a parent and as a person and seeing what’s going on in the world, there’s only so much you can take before you go, ‘I’ve just got to try to do somethingâ€, whether it seems cynical or not.’†—Ben Stiller on getting over his unserious self to help save Africa [Telegraph UK]

“I have been obsessed with the whole Marilyn Monroe thing my whole life — all those artists who died young. Michael Jackson. At one point, we talked about that stuff. I can’t reveal what he thought. But yes, we had a conversation about it once.†—Mariah Carey on thinking she’d go early [InTouch via Pop Eater]
