Americans wasted no time putting their movie-theater gift cards to use the past few days as Hollywood had its biggest box-office weekend ever, making $278 million. Sherlock Holmes, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, and Avatar each made over $50 million, the first time three movies have passed that mark in the same weekend. What this means for you is that you’ll be spending Christmas 2011 watching Avatar 2, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The College Years, and Sherlock Holmes and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Have fun!
