Avatar, The Hangover Among the Hilarious Nominees for Writers Guild Awards

How weak is the competition for this year’s Best Original Screenplay? So weak that the scripts for Avatar and The Hangover were nominated for that very award by the Writers Guild this afternoon, along with the ones for (500) Days of Summer, The Hurt Locker, and A Serious Man (presumed Oscar-contending screenplays for Inglourious Basterds and Up were previously ruled ineligible, for some inane reason). See the full list of WGA nominations, after the jump.
