Stepping in to make sure that cash-strapped EMI doesn’t do anything rash, the U.K. government has listed Abbey Road as a Grade II protected-status historic site. Initial reports last week had EMI trying to sell the studio; subsequently, the company said it was only planning on revitalizing it with the help of an unannounced third party. Basically, now that it’s Grade II, the mysterious third party can’t revitalize Abbey Road by installing video-poker machines. [Billboard]
