Formerly ubiquitous pop star Christina Aguilera announced yesterday that her fourth studio album, Bionic, will be out June 8, with first single “Not Myself Tonight†premiering March 30. Her last album, 2006’s Back to Basics, featuring the D.J. Premier–produced single “Ain’t No Other Man,†went platinum plus, and Bionic sounds like more of an interesting departure: Along with the usual Linda Perry and Tricky Stewart credits, Aguilera’s also got collaborations with indie-minded folks like Ladytron, Sia, and Le Tigre, of all acts. But has Lady Gaga set the bar too high, during Aguilera’s absence, for blonde pop divas who, if you squint a little, sort of look like Christina Aguilera? [Billboard]
