Foxx to Bring Jungle to Life: Jamie Foxx will star in, produce, and score Fox’s upcoming animated film, Welcome to the Jungle, marking his first animated feature-length project. The plot has not been revealed other than this tantalizing tidbit from screenwriter Malcolm Spellman: “Life is a jungle and welcome to it.†We’re hoping this means the film will be some kind of epic takedown of Howard Stern … though it will probably end up being about wisecracking animals on a journey or something. Martin to Follow Up Crow: Steve Martin is set to record another album (after 2009’s The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Banjo) with his touring group, the Steep Canyon Rangers. The actor plans to hit the studio in August and have the album out in early 2011. Martin will also be embarking on a new tour beginning April 19 in Detroit, and he’ll stop by Bonnaroo in June along the way. The good news is this means no more Pink Panther movies for a long time. Scorsese Goes 3-D: Martin Scorsese’s next project, The Invention of Hugo Cabret, due for a December 9, 2011 release, will be shot in 3-D. The story is based on a best-selling children’s book centered on a 12-year-old orphan. Considering Scorsese said he thinks frickin’ Precious should have been in 3-D, this really should come as no surprise. [Variety]

Bush Heads From Hill to South: One Tree Hill’s Sophia Bush has been cast in the ABC family comedy pilot Southern Discomfort. She’ll play Haley, a recent Harvard graduate who returns to Texas to reunite with an old boyfriend. While Hill hasn’t technically been canceled yet, this is a sign fans may want to cherish every last angsty glance this season. [HR]
Paterson Family’s Heart: Bedrock Studios and Arcady Bay Entertainment are teaming to bring Katherine Paterson’s fantasy novel The Flint Heart to the big screen. David Paterson, an Arcady Bay principal, will adapt his mother’s book, a story of “a magical amulet that brings power and despair to those who touch it.†And in case this wasn’t incestuous enough for y’all already, know that Katherine collaborated on the novel with her husband, John Paterson Sr. [Variety]
Borenstein Attempts to Fix Man: Max Borenstein will write the latest draft of Man From U.N.C.L.E., Warner Bros.’ film adaptation of the sixties TV show. The project has been in development for some time, with David Dobkin onboard to direct. Though Borenstein’s Jimi Hendrix biopic script ended up on last year’s Black List, the only film he’s written so far that’s been made is something called Swordswallowers and Thin Men … which makes us worry this thing is in T.R.O.U.B.L.E.
