A while back we noted that the Winter Olympics miraculously pulled NBC out of fourth place for the first time in six years. Hope it was worth it. Because now the numbers are in and the network lost $223 million on the Games. While the Olympics brought in $800 million of extra revenue, they also added a boatload of expenses, including the $820 million NBC paid just to get the rights to show them. GE executives aren’t so worried about the loss, because the high ratings gave them a chance to advertise Jay Leno’s move back to 11:35. You know, just in case anyone wasn’t actually aware of it.
