Greene Out, Roberts In: Emma Roberts has been cast as the lead of the upcoming Scream 4 in a role that was originally offered to Twilight’s Ashley Greene. Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson will be returning to direct and write, respectively. Roberts will be playing Jill, the heroine of the rebooted franchise who is the cousin of returning original Scream star Neve Campbell. Let’s hope for Emma’s sake that her post-Scream career trajectory doesn’t mimic Campbell’s, though. [Heat Vision/HR]
Bruce Almighty: Summit is in early talks with Bruce Willis to star in the prison-escape drama The Tomb, with Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) looking to direct. Willis would play Ray Breslin, a structural security authority who analyzes “every†high-security prison and learns a wide range of survival skills in order to build prisons. But when he is framed and incarcerated in a prison he designed himself, he has to escape and find out who put him in jail. Our money’s on Ashton. [Deadline]
Nothing But the Truth: Maura Tierney is in negotiations for the leading role in ABC’s new legal drama The Whole Truth, after Joely Richardson left the show for “personal reasons†after filming the pilot. Tierney was actually originally approached for the Truth role, but went with NBC’s Parenthood at the time instead, though she had to drop out of that series when she began treatment for breast cancer last fall. J&J: Rilo Kiley lead singer Jenny Lewis has teamed up with her boyfriend, singer-songwriter Johnathan Rice, to form a duo called Jenny and Johnny. Though there has been no announcement about if and when they will be releasing music, they have three tour dates scheduled this fall in Boston, Brooklyn, and Philadelphia. Pearce-ing: Marvel has hired Drew Pearce to write the script for Runaways, a live-action film adaptation of the cult comic book about the children of supervillains who attempt to use their evil powers for good. Pearce, while a relatively unknown British writer, has a background in the genre: He created No Heroics, a U.K. comedy television series about a bar frequented by off-duty superheroes. This film is not to be confused with this year’s The Runaways, in which children attempt to use their unruly hairdos for good. [Deadline]
Cowabunga: Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon have brought on Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes partners to produce Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the live-action movie that will reboot the nineties film series. So clearly, Megan Fox is now the front-runner for April! [Deadline]
