In a piece today that asks the only question left to ask about Joaquin Phoenix and his rap career (“Is this dude serious?â€), the L.A. Times reveals some particularly gross details of the Casey Affleck–directed documentary about the formerly bearded emcee. The Times was able to squeeze the info out of potential buyers who were present at screenings arranged by William Morris Endeavor. The buyers were sworn to secrecy but, of course, kept little secret, leaking the following disgusting details about the movie:
Phoenix snorts cocaine, orders call girls, has oral sex with a publicist (it’s unclear who was the giver and who the taker), and treats his assistants abusively.
Then there’s this:
Several buyers said the film overflowed with Hollywood debauchery, including more male frontal nudity than you’d find in some gay porn films and a stomach-turning sequence in which someone feuding with Phoenix defecates on the actor while he’s asleep.
Yikes! After all of that, the Times is no closer to determining whether this film is a documentary or a mockumentary, and neither are we. There is one thing we know for sure though: We’d rather not see it.
