Take that, Newsweek! Sean Hayes, who has been nominated for a Tony award for his performance in the musical Promises, Promises, will also host the award show next month. Hayes, who came out in March, has received much attention of late, after his turn in Promises inspired the now infamous, much boycotted Newsweek piece claiming that gay actors are unconvincing when playing straight parts. With this new gig, Hayes hopes Newsweek shoots itself in the foot by writing an essay about how gay men are implausible as emcees of large-scale theatrical productions. [Official site]
