Christopher Nolan Is Perfectly Happy With 2-D

It’s looking unlikely that Christopher Nolan and Martin Scorsese will be collaborating anytime soon. Nolan, at a screening of his Insomnia and The Dark Knight this weekend, told the audience that his eagerly awaited Inception could have been converted to 3-D but that he ultimately rejected the idea.

“I’m not a huge fan of 3D,†he said. “We did tests on Inception to look at the post conversion process. And they worked very well. It’s quite easy to do, in fact. But it takes a little time, and we didn’t have the time to do it to the standard that I would have been happy.â€

He especially takes issue with filming in 3-D, and said that if he does end up adopting the trendy technique (perhaps for the next Batman movie?), he would convert during post-production rather than shoot in 3-D. Nolan’s skepticism about technology is not limited to the advent of 3-D, however.

“I don’t really look at the Internet,†he said. “I don’t email or use a cell. It gives me time to think.â€

We were right with you up until the No Cell Phone revelation, Chris.
