Liam Neeson Walked Laura Linney Down the Aisle

There’s a melancholy item buried at the end of this weekend’s glowing New York Times Magazine profile of Laura Linney, the paper’s second big piece on the actress this year. (Apparently in the seven months since the paper’s January 2010 profile of her, titled “Genuine Actress Flirts with Stardom,†Linney and stardom have made it official, or at least official enough for us all to be living, per the title of the new piece, in “The Age of Laura Linney.â€) According to the Times, Liam Neeson, who may appear with Linney on her new Showtime series The Big C, gave Linney away at her May 2009 wedding, which was just two months after the death of his wife, and Linney’s friend, Natasha Richardson. Armistead Maupin, also a pal of Linney’s and the author of Tales of the City, tells the Times: “It was an astonishing moment, a celebration of love and loss, being given equal treatment.†And now we’re going to find some Kleenex.
