Sharp-eyed citizens of New York, L.A., San Francisco, Boston, and other major cities might have noticed these wild postings of Joaquin Phoenix’s bearded visage popping up recently, ostensibly in promotion of September 10’s I’m Still Here, the Casey Affleck–directed documentary on Phoenix’s fledgling hip-hop career. Well, Vulture just confirmed that they’re actually the work of artist Shepard Fairey. So if music doesn’t work out for Joaquin, maybe he can be president.
