Last night at the Ziegfeld Theater, Tyler Perry’s For Colored Girls — an (Oscar hopeful?) adaptation of Ntozake Shange’s For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf — had its New York screening. The movie is crammed full of esteemed actresses, so Vulture asked Kerry Washington if it ever got competitive on set. “There was no competition. There was a lot of inspiration; you often felt when you got to work like you were being passed the baton. Like I would show up and everybody would be talking about how amazing so-and-so was today, and you’d go, ‘All right! All right, it’s my turn.’†Also: “I’m just glad that this movie exists.
