After a brief break last weekend, SNL was back this week with host Emma Stone. Although she took the major character, or co-major chracter, role in each sketch that featured her, many of the sketches featured a good amount of cast members playing minor (or, really, background) roles. Like the “I Broke My Arm†digital short and the “Les Jeunes de Paris†sketch, for instance. Those were very weird! Right? Those were very weird sketches.
But anyway, let’s see how everyone did:

Winners and Losers
Because there were a good amount of ensemble sketches this week, a lot of the cast seemed to be involved even though not many were given major characters.
Even so, it looks like the winners this week are, interestingly, Paul Brittain and Nasim Pedrad, each with two major characters and four minor appearances. Also, can Weekend Update be a winner? Because if Weekend Update can be in a winner, it definitely stole the show with Kenan’s Jimmy McMillan and a great Stefon appearance, as well as John Mulaney’s I Love It segment, which seems to be the most talked-about part of the entire episode. If there were no rules in SNL Horse Race Roundup, John Mulaney might just be declared the winner himself. Actually, there aren’t any rules. John Mulaney wins!
The losers this week are Abby Elliott and Jay Pharoah, each with only two minor appearances. But, again, most of the cast were given only a number of minor appearances this episode. So, you know. Better luck next time.
Kelly Conaboy writes a lot, but it’s never about anything.
