Hilary Swank wanted it, Amy Adams cried when she had to turn it down, and now Elizabeth Banks has landed the highly coveted female lead in Welcome to People, the directorial debut of A-list Hollywood screenwriter Alex Kurtzman (Transformers, Star Trek). She’ll play an alcoholic with an angry 12-year-old son whose brother (Chris Pine is attached) reaches out to her after the death of their father. The DreamWorks drama is set to begin shooting next year; meanwhile, Banks co-stars in next week’s Russell Crowe vehicle The Next Three Days. [HR]
