No one ever really expects huge music companies to apologize for their weird antics, but sometimes it happens! Bradford Cox of Deerhunter and Atlas Sound has received a formal apology from Sony Music for their removal of the home demo MP3s that he posted to his blog last week. Sony’s response, which was sent to anyone who inquired about the issue via e-mail, is gracious and explains that the tracks were “mistakenly removed.†There’s still no explanation as to how this happened in the first place, given that neither of Cox’s bands are affiliated with Sony Music in any way.
