Portlandia, Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein’s lovingly mocking tribute to the city of Portland, has been picked up for a second season by IFC. Which is great, great news, as it’s one of the best and most original new comedies to come along in a while. Even better: the second season will be 10 episodes long instead of 6. The only downside is that it won’t premiere until next January.
One also has to wonder if this will be the impetus for Armisen to leave SNL after this season. He’s been on the show since 2002; of the current cast, only Seth Meyers has been around longer (he joined in 2001).
