After a rough month and much speculation, it appears that Keith Olbermann will be heading to Current TV. The tiny cable channel, founded by Al Gore, is only five years old, and is hoping that Olbermann will help boost its appeal. According to a source at the network, Olbermann’s deal would give him a show and equity in the network. The deal is expected to be formally announced at a planned conference call Tuesday morning.
A move to Current would give Olbermann a greater measure of autonomy, though the network is considerably smaller than Olbermann’s former home at MSNBC. Current TV is available in around 60 million homes, compared to an audience of around 85 million homes at MSNBC. [Media Decoder/NYT]
