There was always something a little bit weird about Pixar’s 2012 slate, which had Brave set for June and then the newly dubbed Monsters University — the sequel to Monsters, Inc. — coming out not long after in November. To go from one movie a year to two huge movies in the span of just a few months … what, was Pixar suddenly turning into Marvel? Today, though, Pixar announced that Monsters University will be bumped back to June 21, 2013, a notable move for one other reason: With Toy Story 3 out last year and Cars 2 on deck in June, now nobody can accuse the iconoclasts at Pixar of releasing three sequels in three consecutive years.
