A 29-year-old How to Succeed in Business stagehand died backstage Wednesday evening from what police said was a drug overdose, the New York Times reports. The stagehand was found unconscious in cardiac arrest shortly before the evening’s 8 p.m. performance was supposed to begin. Two announcements of a delay in the evening’s show were made, before its stars, Daniel Radcliffe and John Larroquette, went onstage and told the audience that the show was canceled. “They said they debated it for a long time, and that there was a tragedy and they didn’t feel comfortable performing,†said one audience member. “They apologized to everyone, but said it wouldn’t be fair to us because they would not have been able to give a good performance.†[NYT]
