It’s about time for Matt Damon to give Ben Affleck a run for his money as a writer-director, and he knows it. “I am coming closer to a directorial thing, yes,†Damon told Vulture last night at the American Institute for Stuttering 5th Annual Benefit Gala. “I’ve got a few things that I really want to direct, and one I’m actually going to start at the first quarter of next year.†The go project is believed to be Father Daughter Time, a hot spec Warner Bros. picked up last month where Damon would play a criminal on the lam with his daughter, and though Damon wasn’t telling, he did offer that “John Krasinski’s in it.†We wondered if he was joking, since Krasinski also happened to be on the red carpet with wife Emily Blunt, who’d co-starred with Damon in The Adjustment Bureau. But no, “I’m being dead serious!†Damon insisted. Can we lobby for Krasinski to play the daughter?
