Before he shot the climactic emotional scene of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Shia LaBeouf needed to get in a sensitive place. Thus, in an actorly brainstorm, LaBeouf plugged his iPad into a set of speakers and flooded the Transformers set with the lilting Feist ballad “Brandy Alexander†… and before you could even count “1, 2, 3, 4,†director Michael Bay had unplugged the songstress, subbing in the comparatively more macho score for The Dark Knight. LaBeouf recalled the incident to the Los Angeles Times: “I take him aside, I’m like, ‘Mike, this is the most important moment in the movie for me. The crux of my whole character, my whole arc. That doesn’t work for me, dude.’†The fight then escalated, according to LaBeouf (“Now it’s two dudes ready to kill each other … spit’s flyingâ€), until Bay walked off set with his ballad-averse entourage of military advisers in tow, leaving the director of photography to finish shooting the scene in his stead. Feist: so divisive! Who knew? [LAT]
