Shawn Levy’s Star Wars movie may have found its star. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Barbie star Ryan Gosling is in talks to lead the Deadpool & Wolverine director’s untitled feature for the franchise. The plot reportedly won’t be connected to the Skywalker Saga. Sources also told THR that it’s intended to be a stand-alone movie. A couple crew members have boarded this project — Levy’s The Adam Project collaborator Jonathan Tropper has been writing the screenplay, and Levy will produce via his production company 21 Laps alongside Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy — but beyond that, details remain sparse. We don’t even know roughly when the story will be set yet.
That doesn’t mean that the project is still in the early stages, though. Levy has been working on this movie since 2022, and THR reports that if negotiations with Gosling turn into a deal, it could potentially start shooting this fall. Hopefully that means we’ll have a better idea of what the movie is about and who else is in the cast soon? We’ll keep you updated as more information is confirmed, but for now, Gosling’s reported interest will have to be Kenough.
