A lot of studios will commission sequels before the first film even hits theaters, but in the case of last year’s Angelina Jolie action movie Salt, Sony took a wait-and-see approach to extending the franchise. The results were a little bit inconclusive — the movie did all right, grossing just under $120 million domestically, though it wasn’t a no-brainer hit — but Deadline reports that the studio has finally decided to proceed anyway, and has hired Kurt Wimmer to draft the next movie. Unlike Wanted 2, which Jolie scuttled, the star is said to be interested this time; let’s all cross our fingers for a truly ridiculous title like More Salt, Saltier, or Salt vs. Pepper. [Deadline]
