Ricky Gervais Is a Suicidal Clown

Here’s a new picture that Ricky Gervais is considering using for the posters for his upcoming standup tour. It was apparently taken for Rolling Stone, but they didn’t want to use it for the cover, and Gervais refused to provide them with an alternative.

First of all, what is a social conscience? Is it simply an attitude of sensitivity toward and sense of responsibility regarding injustice and problems in society or does it involve positive action?Secondly, what is art?And does being art automatically justify something?Does art have its own conscience?Or is it amoral? Can there be art that is so bad that it is no longer art?And could art be great art but cause great harm? Can art “cause†anything?Anyway, what photo of me is your favorite?

His post on the Huffington Post about the pictures is kind of strange. Is it just me, or is Gervais getting a bit too self-serious? Between his obsession with telling everyone about his atheism and this undergraduate pondering about the meaning of art, he’s starting to sound like that guy at a party who really wants you to think he’s smart. Unless this sequence of questions at the end is a joke:Hoo boy.
