Mandate Pictures announced the upcoming Seth Rogen and Will Reiser film Jamaica this week, a movie which will hopefully answer the question, “When in God’s name are we going to see Betty White ripping massive bong hits while getting her hair cornrowed?†According to Reiser, writer of the upcoming 50/50, the film is “based on a vacation he took to Jamaica with his grandmother when he was 14.†Rogen and Riser are also joined by 50/50 collaborators Evan Goldberg and Jonathan Levine. “This is a story that I’ve long wanted to tell,†Reiser said. “It’s something of a passion project for me, and I couldn’t be more excited to have found it a home at Mandate.†Is it gauche that my mind immediately imagined the movie as a sort of Weekend At Bernie’s prequel? It’s mega-gauche, right?
