I know Deadline is reporting that this is a comedy from Universal, but seeing as how identity theft is one of my deepest, most panic-inducing fears, I have to assume it is in actuality a horror film. Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy will star in ID Theft as a guy who has his identity stolen and the thief, respectively. McCarthy’s role was originally written for a man, but after seeing the actress kill it in Bridesmaids, the Arrested Development star pursued her to come on board. Shooting in April 2012, ID Theft is currently looking like McCarthy’s next feature film. I’m picturing something along the lines of The Net but with more pratfalls. Which sounds absolutely terrifying.
