AMC announced pickups for two new reality shows today: Secret Stash and JJK Security. Stash is the previously announced Kevin Smith–produced show, set within Smith’s New Jersey comic-book store, and JJK follows a family-run private security firm in Georgia. Neither show seems particularly on brand for the network, and it’s hard to see an unscripted “Southern gothic workplace dramedy†(as AMC describes JJK) fitting in with, say, The Killing. Stash’s audience could overlap with The Walking Dead’s possibly, but it’s hard to picture Don Draper devotees flocking to either new series. We’ll see! Either way, this fits the portfolio-diversification advice we had for AMC yesterday.
