We had totally forgotten that CBS was premiering new comedy How to Be a Gentleman last night, and apparently so did the rest of America: The show bombed in its first outing. After The Big Bang Theory pulled in almost 15 million viewers at 8 p.m., the Kevin Dillon–led newcomer sank to just 9 million, and the drop-off was even more disastrous in younger viewers, with Gentleman scoring a weak 2.7 rating among folks under 50 compared to a 4.8 for Bang. Now, to be fair, Gentleman did rank second in its time slot and beat Vulture’s blessed Parks and Recreation (2.1 in the demo). Still, CBS can’t be happy about how much Gentleman fell off of its lead-in, nor is it a good thing that Gentleman premiered to numbers 33 percent below last year’s excretory $#*! My Dad Says debut. Elsewhere in the ratings, ABC’s Charlie’s Angels is a bit closer to TV heaven, losing 29 percent of its soft debut, attracting just a 1.5 demo rating and falling to fourth in the 8 p.m. hour. Also down double digits in the 18 to 49 demo: Whitney (dropping 24 percent, to a 2.5), Person of Interest (dropping 13 percent to a 2.7), and Prime Suspect (dropping 17 percent to a 1.5). The X Factor, meanwhile, remains pretty steady, and here’s some good news to go out on: Community upticked 6 percent versus last week, the only Thursday show to grow. Go Human Beings!
