Are you a little bummed that the eight-minute Girl With the Dragon Tattoo trailer, which debuted at select regional screenings last night, hasn’t made it online yet? If so, could the Muppets tide you over with their own take on the David Fincher Swedish Experience, in the form of a totally entertaining parody trailer? Yes? Great! The faux-trailer marketing campaign for The Muppets rolls on today with a two-minute homage to that intense, Zeppelin-covering Dragon Tattoo trailer from May. Kermit, Jason Segel, and friends explain, in typographic stills cribbed from the original: “We know we haven’t done a parody in a while, but one trailer made us stop ‘Dragon’ our feet. Get it? Man, that thing was awesome.†So is the Muppets’ send-up, which also offers quick shots of some new footage: Rashida Jones looking sassy in an office, dancing show-chickens, and a cameo by Rico Rodriguez (a.k.a. Manny from Modern Family). This movie still looks super-fun! Also, to the “dude†who wrote the “Immigrant Song†substitute: Nice work, man. You nailed that side-shuffle.
