The actresses from Bridesmaids have done well for themselves this summer — Kristen Wiig got her passion project Imogene financed, Melissa McCarthy lined up some brand-new starring roles, and Rose Byrne and Ellie Kemper are as busy as they’ve ever been — but through it all, we couldn’t help but fear that the super-funny Wendi McLendon-Covey had gotten short-changed. Luckily, it appears that slow and steady wins the race: The Hollywood Reporter reports that McLendon-Covey has joined the cast of Steven Soderbergh’s epic Magic Mike. The article doesn’t detail whom she’ll be playing, but we’re fairly sure that Alex Pettyfer’s mother hadn’t been cast yet, and that seems like the perfect role for her: After all, it seems right that Rita from Bridesmaids would graduate from cracking semen-encrusted blankets to mothering a banana-hammock-clad male stripper.
