Christopher Chaney, who was arrested Wednesday for hacking into e-mail accounts belonging to Scarlett Johansson, Mila Kunis, and Christina Aguilera (among many others), says he never intended to harm his famous victims. In fact, he said, he never even tried to profit from them by selling the information or photos he obtained. Using language he seems to have stolen from an ad for an E! special, Chaney explained his motives to a Florida TV station: “It started as curiosity and it turned to just being addictive. Seeing the behind-the-scenes of what’s going on with the people you see on the big screen.†Or, as his mother (actually) put it, “He just had too much time on his hands.†Let this be a lesson to everyone, including us.
