If it ain’t broke, Michael Fassbender’s not gonna fix it. Variety reports that Fassbender has signed on for a third collaboration with director Steve McQueen, as he’s joined the cast of McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave, which is already set to star Chiwetel Ejiofor in the true story of a New York man captured in 1841 and enslaved in Louisiana. Fassbender got his big break in McQueen’s feature-film debut, Hunger, and reunited with the director for the explicit sex drama Shame, a dark horse entrant in this year’s awards season. No word yet on whom Fassbender will play in Slave or whether McQueen will find a reason to get him frontally nude yet again, but we’ll probably find out soon. [Showblitz/Variety]
