The Mad Men star is in final negotiations to topline Top of the Lake, a six-hour series written and directed by Jane Campion for BBC Two. (King’s Speech producers Emile Sherman and Iain Canning are also attached, for a little extra Anglophile cred.) Top of the Lake follows a detective as she searches for a missing 12-year-old pregnant girl, so it’s more Killing than Downton, despite the BBC affiliation. But while we’re Downton-ing: Moss really should do a Masterpiece series at some point. Second-generation Grantham? New Elinor Dashwood? Discuss at home. [Deadline]
